3D prosthetics
The Koryzna Clinic in Szczecin performs all-ceramic prosthetic work during a one-hour office visit.
The dentist, using a special intraoral scanner, reads a three-dimensional image of the patient’s teeth, including the area to undergo prosthetic treatment. The image scan is transferred to a computer which, using a special programme, designs a tooth perfectly adapted to the physiognomic conditions in the patient’s mouth. CEREC CAD/CAM designs the tooth or teeth to match the shape, size and colour of the other teeth in the arch.
The technology works very precisely and the patient himself can see a visualisation of the expected treatment effect. The CEREC design is sent to a digital milling machine, which cuts the prosthetic restoration from all-ceramic blocks in a few minutes. CEREC technology allows all kinds of prosthetic and aesthetic restorations to be made: veneers, crowns, inlays and onlays, bridges. After fabricating the fixed prosthetic restoration, the dentist cements it in place using a special cement.
Done!
The patient can once again enjoy a healthy and natural-looking smile.
No impressions, no repeat visits and no discomfort.
With an accuracy of this many units of length, CEREC technology produces prosthetic restorations. To better illustrate the precision of the system, it is worth adding that one micrometre is one thousandth of a millimetre.
The CEREC system takes its name from the abbreviation of Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics. Its authors are two Swiss dentists, Dr Werner Mörmann and Dr Marco Brandestini.
The computerised restoration planning system was first used in 1985. Each year, the number of dental practices worldwide using the CEREC system increases. Among them is the Koryzna Clinic dental practice in Szczecin.
CEREC system in implantology
Computer-assisted crown design supports the fabrication of the most perfect form of prosthetic restoration – implants. The system’s integrated functions allow the dentist to combine the prosthetic restoration and the implant in a single image. This represents even greater precision in the planning of prosthetic surgery.
Recreating the occlusal surface of the teeth The CEREC system with CAD/CAM software accurately recreates the chewing surfaces of the teeth so that the result is fully consistent with the anatomical arrangement in the patient’s mouth. The computer calculates and measures the tooth size and fissure shape based on the patient’s current dentition.
Key advantages of 3D prosthetics using CEREC technology:
- The prosthetic restoration is ready in one visit
- No need to take an impression
- No need for repeat visits to the dentist or touch-ups
- No need for temporary restorations
- Highest possible precision in the restoration of bite functions, incomparable to traditional prosthetic methods
- Prosthetic restoration ideally suited to the anatomy, shape, size and colour of teeth
- Widely used in prosthetics (veneers, inlays, onlays, crowns, bridges) and implantology (implant-based prosthetics)
- High durability of the restoration
Restoring missing teeth is important not only for our appearance, but also for our health. At the Koryzna Clinic in Szczecin, permanent prosthetic work is carried out in just one office visit.
